Polywood is a synthetic material, created by Sunburst Shutters to solve the aging problems associated with wood shutters. Polywood is an engineered wood substitute that’s better than wood. After years of building wood shutters, we created Polywood and revolutionized the industry. Polywood is a byproduct of natural gas—completely safe and environmentally friendly. By taking the wood out of custom shutters, we have removed the aging effect of wood while retaining its beautiful aesthetics. To make the Polywood Shutter, profiles are extruded into the different shutter components. Then each piece is given a baked on acrylic finish that will last a lifetime.

Both the material and the finish contain UV inhibitors to prevent fading or discoloration. Polywood is synthetic, therefore, it won’t warp, crack or chip like a wood shutter, and it even insulates 70% better than wood shutters. But the best part of Polywood is how great it looks—it really does look like wood! Polywood is made into 4 different shutter brands. Yet, in spite of different names and designs, each one has the durability, finish and beauty of Polywood.

A. POLYWOOD/PATERRA
Polywood is our signature shutter. It offers a simple design that accentuates any environment. The stiles feature our patented flexible flaps that interlock when closed, to block out air, light and noise better than any other shutter design. Polywood comes in a variety of options for your customer (see below for complete details on options.)

Due to certain licensing agreements, some dealers in certain areas of the country will be required to use the name Paterra instead of Polywood.

B. STUDIO/SUMMIT
Studio is a variation of Polywood. It’s the same material as Polywood, but features an astragal stile, added beads in the stile and rail, and a drop rail. It has all the same features and benefits as Polywood.

Due to certain licensing agreements, some dealers in certain areas of the country will be required to use the name Summit instead of Studio.

WARRANTY: 5-year warranty.

C. OVATION/WINDSOR
Ovation is Sunburst’s Basswood shutter. It is a premium wood shutter, built from furniture-grade Basswood. All parts are kiln-dried and sealed for moisture protection. Each component is quality checked and built to Sunburst’s high standards. Ovation shutters have a first-rate finish that is designed to outlast most wood shutters. With dozens of wood stain colors available, Ovation can match chair rail, baseboard trim or crown moulding.

Due to certain licensing agreements, some dealers in certain areas of the country will be required to use the name Windsor instead of Ovation.
